ABSTRACT

To analyze the association of polymorphisms of the GSTM1 and GSTT1 genes with the degree of lung damage in elderly people in Yakutia who suffered from COVID-19, a survey of volunteers who had a coronavirus infection aged 60 to 75 years (average age 64.470 +/- 0.602 years) was conducted. The results of our study find out that the combination of zero deletion genotypes GSTM1 and GSTT1 is a risk factor for the development of severe lung lesions in the elderly.

ABSTRACT

The first ever case of Corona Virus Pneumonia was reported on 8th December 2019 in Hubei Province of Wuhan China. The virus was believed to be transferred from seafood market and subsequently the causative agent was identified as SARS-COV-2. In this study, we conducted a study aimed at identifying the nature and characteristics of the influence of the cognitive assessment of the situation associated with the SARS-COV-2 pandemic, its semantic perception on the mental states of people of working age.The main semantic education of a person during the SARS-COV-2 pandemic is situational semantic attitudes-the primary ways of responding to signs of situational uncertainty, which carry out actual management of mental states, exerting a stabilizing or conversely destabilizing effect on them. Situational semantic attitudes of the personality play an indirect role in the interaction of the situation and mental states. It is not the situation itself that becomes the source of the emergence and development of certain mental states, but those situational semantic attitudes that, as a result of conscious and unconscious thought processes, enhance or weaken the signs of uncertainty of the situation that has arisen and determines the selective control of the mental activity of the individual. When organizing psychological assistance to the population during periods of pandemics, it is necessary to take into account the results of the study, which may affect the development of targeted programs for the formation of an adequate perception of the situation that has arisen and the development of conscious mechanisms for self-regulation of mental states.Copyright © RJPT. ABSTRACT

A pilot single-stage study of residents of Yakutsk, attached to the YSC CMP Clinic, with a history of new coronavirus infection COVID-19 in the period from March to December 2020 (1st and 2nd waves of the pandemic) was conducted. 2 groups of 80 people from 30 to 59 years old were formed, which were divided according to the time of infection with COVID-19. The 1st group included patients with a postcovid period from 3 to 6 months, in the 2nd - from 7 to 11 months. The analysis revealed a high frequency of cardiometabolic disorders, in particular hypertension, obesity and metabolic syndrome. Men had a more severe course of infection, both in the first and in the second wave of the pandemic. The relationship between blood pressure, body mass index, waist circumference and blood triglyceride levels with the severity of the disease is presented.

ABSTRACT

We have analyzed the impact of herpes virus infection on the course of a new coronavirus infection (NCVI). Infection of the examined contingent with herpes family viruses reached 95.3-100%. An association of NCVI with herpes simplex viruses 1, 2 types (HSV 1, 2 types) was found, but no correlation was found between the positivity coefficient (CP) of HSV 1, type 2 and the severity of NCVI. This can be explained by the fact that the sampling was carried out in the remote period after the transferred NKVI. Considering that both herpes viruses and the SARS-CoV-2 virus cause multiple organ damage and can aggravate each other, the study of co-infection seems to be very relevant.

ABSTRACT

A one-time medical and biological examination of the health status of 161 residents of Yakutsk aged 20 to 72 years who recovered from COVID-19 3-12 months ago during the first wave of the pandemic was carried out. Changes in lung function were detected in 29.5% of 139 patients who underwent spirometry. Among them, 7.2% of the surveyed revealed extremely severe changes. The appearance of symptoms and disturbances in the function of external respiration in the post-covid period did not have significant differences in hospitalized and outpatients, and were not associated with the post-covid period, the severity of lung damage in the acute period of the disease, smoking, and the presence of chronic diseases of the respiratory system. The obstructive and restrictive type of disorder was more often observed in women treated on an outpatient basis, which indicates a protracted recovery that requires the same rehabilitation measures that are carried out for hospitalized patients in order to eliminate multiple organ post-COVID complications.

ABSTRACT

Coronaviruses, seven of which are known to infect humans, can range from asymptomatic infection to malnutrition and death. Russia has over 12.4 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the time of writing, with nearly 334, 000 deaths. While all other coronaviruses affect cardiovascular disease, the SARS-CoV-2 virus also has a tropism for the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, kidneys, and nervous system. In this review, we describe the important gastrointestinal manifestations of COVID-19 in children and discuss possible underlying pathophysiological mechanisms for their occurrence. © 2022 Global Media Technologies. ABSTRACT

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a considerable and evolving impact on delivery of surgical care to patients. During the early stages of the pandemic, resource scarcity was experienced by many healthcare systems. This led to the implementation of a surgical moratorium on elective surgeries in New York State between the months of March through June 2020. Certain specialties, specifically those performing elective surgeries, experienced significant strain and transformation. Objective: This study aims to describe perioperative and intraoperative characteristics of patients undergoing hysterectomy for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) with and without concomitant urogynecology procedures between 2019-2021 at a multi-hospital healthcare system that experienced significantly strain and a subsequent moratorium on elective surgery during the first peak of the pandemic. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort analysis of all patients in a multi-hospital healthcare system in New York City who underwent hysterectomy for POP from August 19th, 2019 through August 11th, 2021. Cases were identified using procedural and diagnostic codes for hysterectomy and POP, respectively. Patients were separated into three cohorts based on dates corresponding to phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 'early peak' was defined from March through June 2020, coinciding with the New York State moratorium. The primary outcome was the stage of POP for patients undergoing surgery. Secondary outcomes included concomitant urogynecologic procedures, route of surgery, time from indication to procedure, length of inpatient stay, and utilization of pre-operative medical assessment/clearance (POMA). Results: A total of 253 cases were included: 106 (41.90%), 15 (5.93%), and 132 (52.17%) patients in the 'pre-pandemic','early peak pandemic', and 'stable pandemic' groups, respectively. Although not statistically significant, vaginal hysterectomy approach was performed less frequently during the 'early peak pandemic' and 'stable pandemic' cohorts (P = 0.0544). The 'early peak pandemic' cohort had significantly more stage IV POP compared to other cohorts (P = 0.0021). Rates of concomitant urogynecology procedures including slings, anterior or posterior repair, or apical repair did not differ between the cohorts. Further, cystoscopy was utilized intraoperatively more frequently in the 'stable pandemic' cohort (P = 0.0272). Time from surgical indication to operation was also significantly different with patients most frequently waiting at least 3 months in the 'early peak pandemic' group (P = 0.0132). Length of inpatient stay did not demonstrate a significant difference (P = 0.3982). The most frequent postoperative complication was transient voiding dysfunction, and this was observed more commonly in the 'stable pandemic' cohort (P = 0.0236), though overall no cases were complicated by persistent voiding dysfunction or urinary retention requiring surgical intervention in any group. Conclusions: In late spring 2020, when the moratorium was lifted, surgical volume returned to pre-peak numbers. However, time from booking to day of surgery remained significantly longer during and after the 'peak'. There was a statistically significant increase in patients with stage IV POP during the 'early peak' and 'stable' pandemic periods. There was a statistically significant increase in use of precautionary measures peri and intra-operatively during the 'peak' and 'stable pandemic' periods with significant increases in use of POMA performed outpatient by anesthesia and an increased utilization of intraoperative cystoscopy.

ABSTRACT

The pandemic has created a push for changes in education and technology that are driving progress in all areas of instruction. This impetus is forcing all stakeholders to address the transformation of traditional education into online education. This change in the education system requires students and teachers to train new competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities. In this context, this paper aimed to determine the psychophysiological strain of university students in relation to distance learning during the pandemic COVID-19. For this aim, quantitative data collection was conducted in this research. The results indicated that the distance learning format increased neuropsychic strain, decreased mood, activity, and wellbeing, and increased situational anxiety in college students. Based on the obtained results, social pedagogical educational technologies were developed, and hybridity, interactivity, multiformat, and feedback were identified as the main factors for their success. Pedagogical implications for teaching in higher education are presented. Copyright © 2022 Babieva, Romanova, Reznichenko, Kosykh, Kosolapova, Vlasenko and Krasheninnikova.

ABSTRACT

A study was conducted on 161 citizens of Yakutsk who had a new coronavirus infection in the period from March to December 2020. A high incidence of arterial hypertension, obesity, and lipid-metabolic disorders was revealed. The relationship of lipids, glucose and uric acid in blood serum, arterial hypertension, waist circumference with the severity of the new coronavirus infection was shown. The high prevalence of cardiovascular pathology and its risk factors among study participants requires long-term follow-up of patients with post-COVID syndrome, which prevents premature death from diseases of the circulatory system.

ABSTRACT

A study of IgM and IgG antibodies to SARS-COV-2 was carried out in 161 residents of Yakutsk at the age from 20 to 72 years old who had a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 from 3, 6, 9 and 12 months ago. The aim of the work was to assess the content of serum immunoglobulins IgM and IgG to SARS-COV-2 in persons who have had COVID-19, depending on the duration and severity of the disease. The intensity of the immune response was assessed using the coefficient of positivity (CP) as the ratio of the optical density of the sample to the critical value of the optical density. According to the results of the study, the seroprevalence in all 4 groups of patients with Covid-19 was 100%. Antibodies IgG and IgM to SARS-CoV-2 in those who had been ill with COVID-19 persisted up to 12 months and depended on the postcovid period, age and severity of lung lesions on CT.

ABSTRACT

The analysis of the main symptoms of residents of the city of Yakutsk aged 20 to 72 years was conducted, who had a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 3, 6, 9, 12 months ago. According to the CT protocol from the anamnesis, the severity of the course of the disease has a direct relationship with age, BMI and gender. Almost half of the surveyed indicate a health disorder after suffering from COVID-19. The subjects with hypertension, chronic kidney disease, diabetes mellitus, chronic respiratory tract disease, and ischemic heart disease most often indicated fatigue. With fatigue, the vital capacity of the lungs was lower by 16-17%, a significant decrease in the activity of the enzymes of energy metabolism lactate dehydrogenase and creatine kinase in men was revealed.

ABSTRACT

A review of the literature data on the epidemiological and clinical aspects of cardiovascular diseases in the new coronavirus infection is presented. Summarizing the results of studies by many authors, we state that the tropism of the new coronavirus infection to the cardiovascular system is manifested through ACE2 receptors, immune, cytokine inflammation, increased coagulation activity. These pathophysiological characteristics are especially manifested in concomitant cardiovascular pathology, leading to decompensation of the existing pathology and often death. Thus, cardiovascular disease is a dangerous risk factor for the development of fatal consequences in the current pandemic situation.
